Between 25-27th of September, Roger Birkeland and Fabian Eckholdt from the NUTS project participated at the Space Generation Congress in Toronto, Canada. Over 100 students and young professionals from all around the World took part in discussions, lectures and group work.
Before traveling to Toronto, Roger and Fabian had chosen one
out of five topics each which was further investigated in the group
sessions at the congress. They were "CubeSat Swarms" and "Earth
Observation for Maritime Services", respectively. Each group presented
their work at the end of the congress, and a report was finalized in mid
December. The content of the reports will be presented to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPOUS).
space industry leaders and people, such as Jan Wörner (head of DLR),
Ken Davidian ("Father" of the DEXTRE robot) and Erik Seedhouse, held
interesting lectures between the working sessions.
three days of hard work the congress ended with a gala dinner at the
Ontario Science Centre, where NASA Administrator Charles Bolden was the
featured speaker. And at the end of the gala dinner, Fabian got the
chance to take a picture with him. Pretty cool!
